                                                    COATED VS UNCOATED

UNCOATED

All Ceramic Speed products come uncoated as standard, and it's a pretty good standard. As the name suggests, the bearings are made with uncoated hardened steel races with our trademark ceramic balls. Ceramic Speed's steel is of the highest quality, and through rigorous testing, they have guaranteed its lifetime up to 4 years.

COATED

If you want the best, then coated is for you - and here's why:

By choosing to upgrade to a coated product guarantees its lifetime for 6 years. Ceramic Speed's unique formula is a metallic layer that is 75% harder than steel, making the races highly resistant to corrosion. This means that even if the bearing is contaminated with degreaser, water or mud, the risk of bearing failure due to corrosion is negligible. Coated Bearings are more resistant to lack of lubrication when it comes to wear and damage on the bearing

Ceramic Speed coated bearings are available for pulley wheels, bottom brackets, wheel bearings and the Oversized Pulley Wheel System.

The coating is a metallic layer, which is 75% harder than the hardened steel races. The coating is applied in a very thin and even layer of 3 microns (0,003 mm) on the entire surface of the bearing race. Both the inside and the outside are treated to achieve optimal results.

The Coated OSPW System for Shimano Dura-Ace 9100 Coated has been developed in Denmark by Ceramic Speed and is constructed from the highest quality materials.

Within Ceramic Speed's comprehensive R&D program, the special coating has been developed in cooperation with a European coating specialist. The coating formula improves the smoothness and ensures the top quality of Ceramic Speed Bearings.

Thanks to the coating’s high resistance to corrosion – even if the bearing is contaminated with degreaser, water, or mud, the risk of bearing failure due to corrosion is negligible. We recommend choosing Ceramic Speed Coated Bearings for unmatched longevity and incredibly low friction.

Installation of OSPW for Shimano 9100/9150 and 8000 SS/8050 SS

In order to get the best performance and shifting from your OSPW System, it is recommended to have the system installed by a professional bike mechanic.

Below are two step-by-step installation guides on how to best install the Shimano 9100/8000 OSPW System. One for the first version of the system with a stop screw, and one for the newest design with an integrated stop tower.

When travelling, please remember to dismount your entire rear derailleur with an Allen key, as the OSPW System will not fit in most bike travel bags and could be damaged if left on.

MAINTENANCE OF COATED BEARINGS

Regarding the maintenance of your OSPW System, it is important that you properly lubricate your bearings in order to ensure optimal performance and maximum longevity. Add oil by using the lubrication points on the back cage plate, so that oil can penetrate the bearing. Do this when you lubricate your chain, if you have washed your bike or after riding in wet or muddy conditions.
