WHAT IS CARBON FIBRE ?
Carbon fibre is a light weight and durable material but incredibly stiff. The Saucony Endorphin pro running shoes have a full-length S shape carbon fibre plate. It is placed inside a lightweight foam that makes up the sole of the shoes.
THE WORKING MECHANISM OF CARBON PLATE IN A RUNNING SHOE
The carbon fibre plate is fixed in a lightweight foam with a shoe profile and heel height that vary from shoe to shoe. The goal of using carbon fiber plates in athletic shoes is to improve energy return. Especially at the toe-off (where an athlete’s toe pushes off the ground). The carbon fiber plate is shaped with a curve at the arch that bends slightly downward under the ball of the foot. The intent is to store energy when the heel strikes the ground and release the athlete’s own energy back to them at the toe-off, giving a boost.
HOW IS A CARBON PLATE BENEFICIAL IN A RUNNING SHOE ?
Carbon fiber plate is beneficial for stabilizing the ankle joint, reducing the load on the calves, and keeping the toes straight—all important for a strong running form and lowering the risk of injury. Weighing only 213 grams the shoes are incredibly light in weight and are surely to give you that extra edge.
